Matrescence Birthing Centre is a purpose-built Class 9a healthcare facility on the Gold Coast. It provides a calm, midwifery-led setting for low-risk pregnancies, combining the familiarity of home birth with clinical infrastructure.
Perfect Practice supported the project from strategy through to delivery. The scope included site selection, feasibility planning, clinical planning, design, documentation and support through the Queensland Health approval pathway.
The interior balances a home-like experience with clinical readiness. Joinery, materials and room detailing conceal clinical infrastructure while keeping equipment and services readily accessible. Privacy, light, noise and movement informed the planning.
The completed centre translates Matrescence’s continuity-of-care model into a regulated healthcare environment. It brings together a calm, personal setting for families and the operational requirements of a stand-alone birthing facility.
