Derbarl Yerrigan Health Services Midland Clinic

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Location: Midland WA

Size: 850 SQM

Derbarl Yerrigan Health Services’ Midland clinic is a culturally grounded healthcare environment designed around connection, community and care.

Perfect Practice held four cultural immersion workshops with local Elders and community members. Their input shaped the planning and design, including a welcoming reception and yarning circle for Elders, children and families.

The six Noongar seasons inform the colours, textures and spatial zoning. Custom joinery and a textured archway reference Midland’s railway history. Reception glazing incorporates a local Indigenous artist’s work, with undulating panels allowing conversation through gaps while maintaining a protective barrier.

The completed clinic brings cultural references, community input and practical healthcare requirements together. It is designed to help Elders, children and families feel safe, respected and welcome.
